The Big 3 will appear to continue their dominance as NASCAR heads to the next road-course race of the year: the GoBowling at the Glen 220.
While Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr. are the favorites once again, on this 2.45-mile monitor at Watkins Glen there are bound to be a few drivers, which you might not anticipate, threatening the leaders.
AJ Allmendinger has just two top-10 finishes this year, but with four top-10s in his last five races at the Glen including a triumph in 2014, he’ll be at or near the top all day as his competitive nature plays nicely on those street courses – even when Watkins Glen is not as technically challenging as Sonoma.
Denny Hamlin might not be quite the exact same sort of sleeper selection as Allmendinger, however with five top-10 finishes – including four in the top 5 in his last five road-course races – that the 37-year-old needs to be optimistic he could catch his first win of this year in New York on Sunday.
